[Ciel takes a short visit to the gardens before the science team meeting to do a quick search for Minatsuki's body.]

Second:

[Ciel visits the clean room to see if any of the hazmat suits or geiger counters have been taken or disturbed.]

Third:

[In the overseer's office after the meeting, Ciel removes the eyepatch so he can gently rub both sockets and let the stupid cut not be so agitated.] Judy, are you able to de-activate my monitor?

[ The gardens haven't been disturbed at all, nor has the clean room. However, when he looks through the glass wall separating the clean room from the power grid, he's likely to see a light trail of blood heading towards the core... ]

[Well, fuck.

He decides already not to go into the core, not yet. Instead, he grievously participates in the decontamination showers to be able to enter the power grid with one of the geiger counters.

MINA WHO PUT YOU IN THE CORE?????]

[ Once he's suited up and steps into the power grid, the geiger counter will start to click. It starts off soft at first, but as he walks towards the core, the clicking will get more frequent.

The trail of blood starts about halfway through the grid and leads directly to the core's door, and presumably inside it. Through part of the bloody trail, there are small, narrow marks that create patterns through the now dry blood like small tank treads. There are two of them, spaced about three feet apart. ]

Ciel stops about where the blood begins. Tire... marks? If he can see through the door into the core, he'll look; otherwise, if it's obscured, he's going... to leave... it be...

Instead, he'll check the tracks. Do they go in only one direction?]

[ He can see through a window in the door, though not very much. All he'll be able to notice is that the reactor core's coolant water is blood red.

It's not possible to tell which direction the treads are going in without seeing the original treads to know which way is the correct orientation, but there is only one set. They cross the blood trail once and then never again. ]

[There's a sickening assumption that, since the treads only go in one direction to the core, whatever thing made them may still be inside.

At least for now, he can assume someone or something likely put Minatsuki inside of the reactor, and that would explain the fountain water. He figured. GOD.

Time to get the hell out of the grid! He does take one of the geiger counters back to the office with him, however.]

I am, yes. Why?

[For a few moments, he doesn't respond. When his hands come away from his face, one of them is holding the purple, artificial eye between its fingers. He looks it over with the remaining good eye.] Are there consequences?

I am going to fake my death.

[judgejudy]

[ Judy laughs, though it's cool and distant as always. ]

Being so close to death unnerved you? But, yes and no. You are the only one whose monitor I may deactivate, save for when in the judgement theater. There are no consequences as a result of doing so necessarily, but you will not be able to reappear to the general population, Overseer. You must still cast your vote in trials, but you may observe the proceedings and cast your vote here. And of course, you must still attend to your duties as Overseer, so your team will know that you still live.

I have never had an Overseer attempt such a thing. I am interested to see how it may go.

I've worked too hard to get this far and die so easily. [He rolls the fake eye in his fingers, then closes it up in his fist.] They don't even know nothing is left.

[GOD] Those obligations are fine. De-activate my monitor. I'm not going to tell the others. It will be... a surprise. I want to see what they will do. I'm concerned about how easily they considered a replacement. [Because someone told them about not needing an overseer...]

I'll see them at the next meeting. Try not to let them destroy the team in the process.

That is the most interesting part to watch residents and overseers alike struggle with. The world outside the Vault is not one that they will find more hospitable. At least, I do not think so. It does not seem it to me.

I apologize for informing them of the conditions, by the way. It is a direct request, and so I am obligated to answer. At least giving Rhys a reminder of what he has forgotten held his tongue further.

Your monitor has been deactivated.

[It should be a relief... but it isn't. Ciel feels no relief of comfort for hearing that the monitor is deactivated. There's still a strange stone weight on his shoulders. It feels familiar.] Nevermind it.

Are you able to provide me with a serrated knife? A large one. Like a bread knife.

[judgejudy]

A knife, no. However, there is a serrated sword that I can provide.

A serrated sword will have to do.

[Ciel with a serrated sword twice as big as he is lmfao.]

Then whenever you would like to fetch it, return to the operating theater. You will find it there.

[He'll return to the operating theater in a bit to retrieve the serrated sword. He'll store it in the overseer's office if he can. (Turns out, he didn't need it for what he thought he needed it for.)

But he does take the "only for emergencies" stun baton and keep it on his person.]
